Blues painting john lee hooker detroit riotPaul recently completed a new blues painting inspired by the John Lee Hooker song "The Motor City is Burning".  The song is a soulful re-telling of the Detroit riots of 1967 that claimed the lives of T 43people. The riots also resulted in 1,189 injured, over 7,200 arrests, and more than 2,000 buildings were reduced to smouldering rubble.

Paul's painting features a portrait of hooker atop a flaming building with various scenes from the '67 riots throughout the painting. The results is a powerful image  that reflects the intensity of event itself.
